Dilemma to scrap or save

Over the last 12 months I have started to re-kindle my love of Escorts.
I have a 73 Mexico which has been off the road since 1986 and dry stored since. I have recently made arrangements to get it home here in Wales and have made a list of parts to purchase for it's revival.
As most of you will know, parts are now very expensive, even mundane items, which only a few years ago would of cost pennys.

I've worked out the cost of the new parts plus the value of what I would get for breaking the car, which equates to the value of a very good spec runner, but yes I agree with what most of you are saying, "non of the fun of building it".

Only last month I read a thread on this site about somebody having there RS2000 stolen, no doubt it will be broken for spares as this trade has become very profitable.

On the up side I will not be breaking my Mexico, it has too much sentimental value , on the down side it's going to cost way too much and be pocket emptying . As I keep telling my wife, it's an investment

save or sell on, but dont scrap it, most of it looks there which is an advantage

i'm sure if you sold or scrapped it in time you'd regret it, i've had this dilema before when i lost interest short term, now i have the bug back with vengance i still have the car, i wouldnt be in the position to replace it at the current prices,

Fooook me mate that thing is scrap for sure unless you've got 5 years and £20,000 to spend on it !!!!!!
I'd sell it off in bits and buy a decent finished motor and save a fortune and 5 years mucking about . All in my opinion of course .

why scrap it you might only need two new wings, front panner and bonnet maybe inner wings cant see the damage on other side

Looks well fixable to me.

Cant really tell from the pictures, but its a long costly road restoring something that realistically should be scrapped, get a second opinion from someone in the know.
Probably cheaper to buy something ready done if you can you it will save you time,money and grief from the wife, just pick carefully and dont get desparate.

I don't think we can comment until we have seen a current picture of the rest of it...but I would only scrap it as a very last resort. Someone would love a challenge to bring that back to life.

Save it mate and you have had it all those years,if you sold it on you would regett it IMHO.Paul

u know what it needs it's very easy to buy someone elses then spend a fortune on it
