Can anyone confirm that this is/was not working today!?? Had my car booked in for a re-test this morning and the chap phoned up and said "Don't bother coming the entire national system has crashed"....
I have been able to log on and MOT since 12:00 noon
All seems ok now
NOTE:- An MOT station cannot refuse a test because of a VOSA computer error
A procedure is in place to carry out emergencey tests
VOSA do not look lightly on the VOSA computer not working as a reason for an MOT station refusing to carry out an MOT
Hi Dave - yep, took it back at 3pm when it was all up and running again. Tester said he could have given me an Emergency Test as you say, but would have resulted in no certificate. So how do you then tax it just out of interest???
Unable to tax online but an emergency test cert is VALID at any post office
(just like we used to back in the day)
You simply go back to the MOT station that issued the emergency cert and have it replaced by a "proper" MOT cert as soon as the computer is up and running
you can tax it online without actually having the cert
Not if he ONLY has an emergency cert as the Post Office and DVLA with have no record of the car passing its MOT until such time as the VOSA computer is updated by the MOT station
