The AA or RAC don't like anything thats not standard, if you say the car is modified they can refuse you cover as they will deem you a higher breakdown risk.
Not strictly true, as a patrol i know i go to modified cars all the time, the only time it will affect your cover is if the vehicle cannot be repaired or recovered by normal methods due to modifications, I.e it cannot be loaded onto a trailer due to a body kit or lowering, larger wheels, where a standard vehicle of the same type could be, if the vehicle then requires specialist equipment then that equipment would then be chargable.

I was refused cover by the RAC because the RS was modified and was told it was a high risk by the person at the end of the phone line.
Think it depends on who answers the phone to you and if they have any know-how.
AA 4 me, been recovered loads of times, flat bed loading too over 30 min with blocks of wood and a lot of ooo aaa's, had a tow back on a dolly and that too nearly an hour to get on (had to take my splitter off) had a right laugh with the patrol guy, the're generall really good about the older cars

Thats the problem there I think. Of the forums I go on nearly all say that there wont be a problem with the AA, RAC etc but because of the way my new car looks I could never get away with saying its not been modified and if a patrolman turns up and he's had a bad day (like we all have sometimes) I could be left high & dry.
