  • CAT AMONGST THE PIGEONS

So I buy the "Worthers" car, because of its history, ownership and the genuineness of it, views on stripping to a shell, and painting to a favoured colour ??, Question, because of the interior colour, Signal Red a possibility, but i,m not certain, was that colour available in 79 ?? honest views valued. I feel like British Rail, they claimed they were "Getting there".

My view...if you strip and paint to your desired colour it will ruin an original car , will also affect its value downwards as no longer tallies with VIN/colour plate details or history. It doesn't take much when selling an RS to put people off and something like a full colour change on a nice car might make people a bit dubious. Best leave it for someone who likes beige and keep looking .

I agree with Ruddy on this Ian. Did to one of my old RS2000's went from venetian Red to Black. When it came to selling I had all sorts of problems never mind the price drop. Best keep on looking for the one you really want.

I understand, dont want to sound like a old woman, however starting to grate now. at the end of the day, i,m only waterproofing you guys thoughts and feelings about your own cars. I didn,t realise last year how hard it would be to locate one of these, especially with good money waiting on the table. My mum told me when i was a little boy, it,ll come to those who wait,............ummmmmmmm, how long i,d have to wait, she didn,t tell me !!!

I waited 10 years to get my hands on the Mexico I have now. (Took that long for my mate to sell it to me).

Sorry Ian, Didn't mean to scare you. Just that when I firs saw mine I knew that I had to have it some day. Did take 10 years and many other RS's later. Just buy the one that you want. It'll come up, They always do.

my own personal opinion would be to keep it the original colour, when you are looking to buy such nice car. i suppose if i was looking to buy a car that needed the work doing to it anyway and therefore in a lower price range, then i may change the colour at the same time. Its sounds like you are looking for one towards the top end of the market, if it was me i would wait or be happy with the original colour. - its only my opnion

Good luck with whatever you do .

Didn't we have this conversation at spares day Ian - I thought I set you straight then !

It would be a travesty to change the colour mate and I urge you not to do it.

You guys are right, it would be wrong to change the colour, i know that deep down, its just that when you feel your not getting anywhere, you consider all options, and of course thats one, thats the great thing about this board, is that you can share ideas(not always good ones) with like-minded others to get honest appriciated answers, cheers guys, maybe the toffee wagon ain,t coming home after all. SH-T, i better take that ten litres of Signal Red back tomorrow, lol

If the colour is "wrong" for you, just move on.

If you want white, you'll find one, eventually.
