    Agree with the above comments.

Take National Hall back to Stanford Hall. If its good enough for the AVO Club it must be good enough for the RSOC
    Cheers

This was all the consortium's fault that was running donington at the time and not the wheatcroft family who are now back in control.

be nice to have a BIG garden party somewhere like it used to be - all the cars in a feckin gert BIG field again

as said before, there are plenty of other track days if peeps wanna race around

The point is being missed in a lot of these posts. As Frosticles has touched on in a post above, this is about saving a UK motorsport venue, not about any past car shows run under a regime that has failed.
As a track, Donnington is not the best and it has only rarely (and expensively) run true club motorsport such as sprints but March 7th is about not letting it become a housing estate (albeit a very noisy one next to an airport...) and losing it to the sport. Of equal interest is the museum there and the memorials (not least that to the terrible fate of Tom Wheatcrofts's protege, the late lamented Roger Williamson).
The track has been damaged by works associated with the failed BGP bid consortium set up by Gillet and (following the sad, but inevitable, recent death of Tom) the son (Kevin?) and family have resumed control of the track and seem to be trying to lease the operation to a more reputable body.
As to the long and sorry saga that led to this, only Bernard Charles Ecclestone has the answers as to why - and many might say that had nothing to do with Donnington and everything to do with his long running feud with the BRDC and Silverstone.
So, this is not about whether a past RS day was a shambles or a rip off; it's about wider issues concerning the sport and not letting the anti-car brigade get a look in.

                Well said.
As long as Bernie has nothing to do with any 'rescue package' i'll be happy.
Can't help but feel he personally was the master of its downfall and I would hate to see him them profit from it. It's a very accessable track for the overseas circuit followers.

SORRY I AM NOT A FAN OF MOTORSPORT AND DONT REALY CARE MUCH FOR IT , BUT SURELY YOU CAN SEE THAT MONEY HAS TO COME FROM SOME WHERE. SO THEY WILL CONTACT ALL THERE OLD FREINDS AND CLUB ORGANISATIONS TO FILL THE CALLANDER WITH AS MANY DATES AS POSSIBLE .WHY WASNT THE PREVIOUS OWNERS MADE TO PUT THE TRACK BACK OR FINNISH OFF THE WORK THEY STARTED, ALSO IF YOU LIVE DOWN SOUTH ITS MUCH EASIER TO GET TO THE VENUE, BUT LIKE MANY OTHER FORD RS ENTHOUSIASTS WHO LIVE IN SCOTLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND, IRELAND , WALES, ISLE OF MAN OR FURTHER ,ITS NOT AS SIMPLE AS THAT .
THE RSOC IS STRUGGLING AND BARELY KEEPING ITS HEAD ABOVE WATER AND SHOULD RE THINK ABOUT NATIONAL DAY TO SOME WHERE WHICH SUITS MORE PEOPLE , YOU CAN MAKE A TRACK DAY A SEPERATE DATE IN THE CALLENDAR AND MAYBE GAIN MORE FINANCIAL GAINS FROM IT .
THER WAS NO NORTHERN RSOC DAY IN SCOTLAND LAST YEAR AND DONT KNOW ABOUT THIS YEAR ? NOT SO MUCH MONEY GOING ABOUT PEOPLE LOSING THER JOBS AND HOUSES , MAYBE LESS DATES BUT BIGGER VENUES FOR A YEAR OR TWO TO THINGS START TO PICK UP AGAIN ? BUT THATS ONLY MY THOUGHTS XX

The previous leaseholders (not the track owners) did the damage and then went bust. Just as for any other similar situation, that leaves other people in the sh*t.
