Some good tips there, but I don't know why the Police haven't publicised this info more widely:
According to the DVLA, all logbooks with codes in the range of BG8229501 to BG9999030 or BI2305501 to BI2800000 are stolen, and should be immediately reported to the DVLA.
Its an excellent first check and may help to get these thieving b*st*rds caught.

DVLA sent out hundreds of thousands of letters listing the stolen ones with tax reminders but as usuall i bet no-one bother to read em
cant get more well publisised that every car owner in the country
