              What a depressing thread

I know od a 2.8 Granada which I have driven past regularly for the last 15 years.......dumped on the verge of his house. I might try and take a photo next time

The questions have to be asked though.....these people who have them rotting away 'but will not sell'.....WHY NOT? Is it because they think they are sitting on a fortune?.......are they expecting prices to carry on upwards?......are they financially comfortable?......do they not like the thought of someone else owning it?......

There must be loads of reasons I know, but it is mind-boggling. I can understand to a certain degree locking a car away and maintaining it, but not to let one rot in a garden

I know of a mk1 mexico thats been sat outside the owners house since 1989, was still quite tidy when i first asked him to sell in 97. Now the struts popped up into the bonnet. Such a shame
Also stumbled upon an Rs1800 in the summer, been in the garage for years ive worked with the owner loads of times and he's never mentioned it or that he was into Mk2's. He wont sell it though thats deteriorating quickly too.
Heres a pic of one i found 15 years ago, wasnt to bad then, but 20years in a quarry on top of a mountain hasnt done it any favours

Too many in my shed I'm getting there slowly - trouble is, much too slowly. But then I'm trying to save what other guys were going to scrap or going to cut up for bits, so that makes up for it, I hope.

                  All the best, Neil.

Maybe they are hopelessly disorganised, or is it they just have too much to cope with in their lives. Perhaps they mean to do something about them, but keep on putting it off and out of their minds. Demanding wives, young children, ongoing repairs to the house, and going to work. Any of these reasons would mean not ever wanting to part with there cars, but never ever finding that bit of spare time to give to their hobby.

A mate of mine had two steam traction engines side by side out in the open to the elements for years and when asked what he was going to do with them he replied he was going to do them up one day.....and this went on for years. I don't think he even realised the work involved to bring one back to life again.

So sad to see these rusting cars though.

                    Tim.

Its so frustrating to read threads like these where there are cars just sitting there rotting away. I bet there are loads of people on here who would love to have cars like these in their garage to restore or be using . I know i`m one of them.
