You will become a seasoned pro or fall by the wayside.
Look at the older kids parents to get tips on how to get thru.
This year so far I have seen plenty of cushions, a couple of flasks (presumably tea, but who knows) and some of the biggest bags of sweets I have ever seen.
Personally I like to get my shoes off.
Thankfully the school sells DVD's of the production to raise funds for the PTA so I no longer have to join the paparatzzi scrum of Dad's lining the sides and back wishing I had bought a tripod for the video camera.

It's the one good thing the school has done. I was close to having to raid the BBC in order to be the 'Dad with the biggest lens'.
