UPDATE- came home with an empty trailer yesterday, when i originally went to see the car last week i was told the history was at sellers dad's house, including original bill of sale and valuation done by RS owners club to the sum of 17k!!!!!!!!!! so with the deal done and a £500 deposit put down we agreed to collect the following saturday.
Went upto Sheffield yesterday and was told that he looked for two hours at his dads house and the history still couldnt be found, waited another two hours while we tried to resolve this, and then was told he would post history at a later date.

after refusing for the deal to be completed without the history being with the car at the time, i asked for half the deposit back and asked for him to look for the history and ring when it was found and left without the car awaiting his call in next few days.

upon returning home i now find the car is up for sale on pistonheads so i guess there was no intention of him finding the history, and have since asked for the rest of the deposit back as the car wasnt as described, and have not had any reply today.

The only history with this car from the last 35 years that i have actually seen are the last two MOT certificates and a handwritten engine build receipt with no specific parts detailed on it.

What do you think the chances of getting the rest of my deposit back are?

I know Darren that is selling this car, and the man seems genuine as I've had a couple of dealings with him and has always been 100% with me. As far as I'm concerned, you have to give this him the benefit of the doubt and hopefully he will come through with its history
