  • A worthwhile rebuild?

    Right starters for 10...

We've got a MK1 sitting in the garage that requires some level of panelwork. Started life as an 1100 but best described now as a Mex replica. (I road rallied it for a while)
Now what I can't decide is whether people think it worthwhile having new wings/ rebuild inners/ plus paint, (bulkhead back is good) on something that's not a proper RS as the cost will be quite high looking at figures being bandied about?

Where once i've put in another engine/decent box etc i'll have probably spent more than an OK RS would cost??

Any thoughts as i'm stuck in my mind at present (and it's scary lol)

surely its up to you - whatever you allocate/want to/end up spending will only be worth it in your eyes -

if its as described, its simple if you're going to keep it ...................... get it done, its an escort

At least you will know the inside and out of this car and you don't have to spend a fortune for a decent pinto and Type 9 to go in it....if you end up with a decent mk1 body then it's worth doing.

Get building and have some fun out of it!

hit the nail on the ed

ok rs thats all your gonna get.to get wot you already have on your description rs wise 3 to 5 k then you have to re panel plus paint.sounds like a std eng n box isnt 4 u either.reckon you could do your own to your own taste 4 the money, and have it nice for the price of an ok rs.my rule of thumb is@15k to restore mk1 rs if you got the car @20k if you havent.its only my opinion.hope this helps

Mint modded 1100L's are worth the same as an RS anyway . Mines an 1100L and it's worth more than most RS' except original BDA's and Lotus models (even though they're all built from 1100L's now anyway !!!!!)
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!
