I`ve just got back from Olivers mount, stage has been cancelled ,police are there and it is now a crime scene, hopefully everyone is ok,it looked a mess from where we were.Regards gixer1000
Ok the situation is a little clearer but this information may not be definitive. Car 5 Darren Moon went off on Olivers Mount (probably as a result of oil dropped on the track) and hit three spectators. They have now been evacuated by County Ambulance to hospital. I do not have any information on their injuries. I am sure we will all join in sending them our best wishes.
The event is proceeding but is currently running about 65 minutes late.
The accident was very unfortunate - even more saddening to see the amount of people stood on the foot bridge taking photos of the aftermath on their camera phones though, I hope if any of you are reading this you feel suitably ashamed.
Glad to see everyone is 'ok'.
The track at Olivers Mount looked slippery anyway, and speaking to a few of the crews who did make it round, it was just a case of making it through. No spectacular throttle action from Banner on the hairpin - must have been bad
Bottom then, seen a few bad ones there over the years , remember the Sunbeam passing us upside down one year and we were stood up the bank near the bridge .
Hope everyone is ok which is the first priority and the Rally secondary.
Just got back from there myself, It was just under the foot bridge on the down hill towards the hairpin, The car ended up caught by a tree on the steep banking.
Must admit it was a bit errie to see people so happy to stand and take pictures But glad to see them carried away and with non life threatening injures, Was a really good day until the incident and good to catch up with mr custom and the crew
