giving up hope of Rs ownership

I'm slowly giving up the hope buying an Escort. Even standard rust buckets are going for silly money. Who is buying them at the current prices?

I have my Dads old MK1 Mex but it needs a new shell really, so rather than put money to that just yet I thought I'd get a cheapy to run around in, £4500 seems enough..........how wrong am I.

You should try your hardest to save the original shell too....

In my opinion the AVO Mexico is a more desireable project, and I agree that you should always restore the original shell, with all the parts available on the market and help from some of the great guys on this forum

Would cost £10,000+ to save the Mexico if it's rotten so sell the thing and get something else . Cortina mk1/2's , Anglia etc are cheaper than Escorts at present or get a sunbeam Lotus , chevette , TR7 etc

Now you've got me started, just when I knew what I was going to do.

But honest, the Mexico will be saved no worry there, it's just time, what i thought was get a run around, not an actual RS, maybe, dare I say it, a replica!

I'm in the process of building a garage and plan to restore the Mex in my own time, what I'm really getting at is the amount of money rusty non RS escorts are fetching.
