I remember literally waiting for hours to get out of sweet lamb due to the sheer volume of spectators, and on other stages, sleeping in cars in the forest waiting for early morning stages cold wet and grumpy, but we enjoyed it really.
Used to be highlight of my year, some good friends, plenty of beer and fodder, and a convoy of cars.
Nearest thing to that now is the RAC started to follow that instead, brings back some memories of the original atmosphere.
I know things move on but the wrc is no longer for me, a 70's 80's and 90's world rally championship would apeal more and make entry fee's to stages realistic, a rally show before hand, propper service halts chase cars, etc, wow i can almost smell the hot mud on exhausts now!
Well said that man we used to follow it every year too from 85 til about 92 it lost a bit of appeal when it went to the Network Q and from there a bit downhill, out of all who used to go from the south coast every year I dont know anyone who still goes
Congrats to Loeb, the best although i wonder if even he's getting a little bored by now -
also well done but hard luck to Hoivonen for such a good mid season chase and catch -
have always wanted to do a season bet on rally f1 and motogp - probably would get some good odds on them, but Button title would have given you great odds i guess this year along with loeb and rossi
