It doesn't sound great, but I can't see it happening...Mind you I said that about sva's too

Blame Gordon Brown, remember it was the tw@t that got rid of the rolled 25 year tax exemption law the kn08

So how will the rally boys come of with this. No 2.4 Warrior engines,2.0 red tops,2.0 Zetecs,s2000 Honda's, Cosworth turbo or normally aspirated for thier Escorts. I can't see this being upheld in this country as far too many people employed in the aftermarket spares and engine industry.
Not only that but my new 2.1 is very near to completion and would be gutted if I cant now fit it.
Hopefully an official explanation will be forthcoming very soon from DVLA.

                    from that artical
"Not only that, but if you choose to go through with the conversion you won’t be able to register it legitimately using the V5 reg document because the DVLA say that any conversion performed outside of a registered garage will require the following:

                    * Receipt of purchase from a garage on headed paper confirming engine number, capacity and fuel type
                    * If your existing engine has been converted, written evidence on headed paper from the garage who carried out the work.
                    * An inspection report from a body such as the AA, RAC or qualified assessor.
                    * An separate inspection report for insurance purposes
                    * Written confirmation from the manufacturer confirming engine number and size"

what it should say is "will require ONE of the following" not all of them

Already been through this, i just printed off some headed paper detailing the transplant, sent it off and they were fine with it, they are just after a paper trail that they can loose/leave on a train/in pub ect.
I've already done it for 3 of my cars i've converted and for 4 other people, i also know somone who have actually contacted the DVLA about the matter and DVLA confirmed they were qualified to do the paperwork IF they had carried out the conversion, he by the way is like me, owns a yard and does meching on the side not as a sole trade, get that printer warmed up and invent a name for your garage

If as I understand this is EU driven then "this country" will have no say in the matter! The legislative powers are now in Brussels, not London. Welcome to the EU!

More crap. So, If your original engine dies terminally, How then, do you go on?????? Also, what about these cars that have had coversions done prior to that date?
