Had a job today to attend a porsche, when i arrived it turned out to be a 1973 porsche carrera 2.7 rs.
After speaking with the owner it turns out that is the only green rhd car in existance
Alternator was overcharging so i managed to track down a new external voltage regulator - but alas made no difference
After speaking to a local porsche specialist he thought it was more than likely the alternator (only rebuilt 500 miles ago) and he has known them to set themselves alight
So it was decided to get it on a truck back to oxford.
The owner was a really nice bloke who has owned many nice cars from ex works twin cams(think mexmark knows him) to ex wrc cars and currently has a tarmac mk2 with a 2.4 millington in it.
At one point when i needed her running he gave me the keys whilst he went to get me a coffee and i started her up - love the hand throttle they have down near the gear stick and she sounded lovely when she barked into life, mind you didnt leave her running long after finding out she was charging at nearly 19.5 volts
if only all days were like today
