A friend of mine was a captain on an offshore oilrig there..They had to fly the crew on and off as it was too dangerous with pirates...At the airport he saw people getting shot who ran onto the runway,it was shoot and ask questions later.....When they decided to cut the wages of the local staff they went nuts and tried to take over the ship......He said he would never go back now that he is married......Plus he said you can never go ashore unless you have a armed escort

Good luck to you fella, I once had an enquiry about a propshaft on a bus half way down a diamond mine in Angola, it was a specialist 4x4 conversion and somebody had robbed the rear propshaft off the bus and the people who had converted the bus (in America) hadn't got a clue what they had put on it!.
I managed to avoid the phone calls for a few weeks as I didn't fancy the job of going over myself to measure it up until the bloke finally got hold of me again and told me that the front one had gone now, , to say this didn't inspire me with confiidence, that something could be robbed from a bus in a so called secure area, was an understatement.
You should be ok though, follow the rules and do as you're told and everything will go to plan, it's dealing with the boredom of not being able to go out and wander round when you're not working that gets to you and that's when you get tempted to take chances....trust me, don't.
