  • surfer dies

A body surfer lost his life on friday at the Wedge here at Newport Beach California. A large storm in Fiji is producing 25foot waves at the wedge, police are arresting anyone entering the water above their waist for their own safety.

Just to add to the drama we now have Great white shark sightings near to the mainland at Laguna and Dana Point, this is due to El Nino a warming of the Ocean waters in the Southern Pacific which drift up the California coast.
It seems to confuse Marine life and they break away from their normal feeding patterns.

Hard times, back home here waves are not that high in the lakes, but the pikes in the lakes can reach up to 50 pounds in weight..!

                    The Wedge in Newport

My son bodyboards The Wedge in Newport. It's pretty scarey even on a calm day. I will try to post one of his on board Go-Pro Videos.

Got to be crazy to ride waves that big,
I wiped out in 7 foot surf last weekend just got rid of the whip lash
I dont know why we do it lol.
Would like some warmer water though it is getting a bit chilly lol.

Think i would rather stick to frozen balls than get had by a shark though
