New Focus RS tested for acceleration

The new Focus RS is tested for the 1st time at Brunters in this months EVO magazine . It weighed in at 1476 kilos and clocked a best 1/4 mile of 14.7secs at 100mph . Shite slow for 300bhp then , would be quicker by bus !!!!!

Its normally a good read Evo mage and I like the new RS FOCUS so may just get it.

The focus is very slow for a 300bhp hot hatch though , in fact it's gutless really and needs more power to overcome it's massive girth . Weighing 1476 kilos is a joke for a hot hatch , that's even heavier than my 1980's 3.5 litre BMW 5 series tank for foooooks sake !!!!!!!

That's more than my Mk2 granada as well and that was a barge !
Jebus modern cars are heavy, just imagine how good on fuel they would be without all the nannying, baby sitting, bad driver masking aids and BS they stuff in em nowdays
Modern cars are greener my arse and if more crap drivers died in crashes they'd be less drivers buring less perol, now that's a green ethos (if slightly contraversial)

Yes WTF is going on , a Focus is the Escort replacement yet it weighs the same as a 1980's limo with bullet proof windows and a 6 litre cast iron V8 under the bonnet !!!!!!! Sort it out please Ford , it needs carbon panels , plastic windows and another 50bhp .

lol , in fact sod the slow coach Focus RS and make some mk1/2 Escorts again please Ford . Even with a £1500 pinto an old Escort will beat the 300bhp FWD turbo in a race !!!!!!

4x4 = would make it even heavier and slower normally . The only mistake Ford made was building it too heavy in the 1st place . It would have been the nuts if around 1100 kilos which to be fair is still plenty heavy enough for a proper street car with a few comforts . The huge weight must be due to the saftey features , air con , electric motors , volvo engine etc
