Army castle artefacts on the move

The Royal Welsh and The Queen's Dragoon Guards' new visitor attraction will open at Cardiff Castle in January

Dozens of military artefacts are being moved temporarily out of a museum at Cardiff Castle while a new attraction is built. They will be stored at the Royal Regiment of Wales Museum in Brecon.
The Royal Welsh and The Queen's Dragoon Guards will open an exhibition in January next year, replacing the Museum of the Royal Welch Regiment.
It is thought to be the first time two regiments have worked together in such a way.
In Brecon, some of the "extensive collection" of medals, flags, uniforms and documents from the Museum of the Royal Welch Regiment will receive conservation work.
Meanwhile, further research will also be carried out on other historic items, including a white Ford Escort from around 1979 which has been discovered, presumably abandonded by its owner at one point.
An Army spokesman confirmed the discovery and thought the vehicle had had a troubled life with signs of damage to the Flywheel, Differential and windscreen wiper arm, plus some strange wide wings fitted to the car.

The Vehichle is now under secure guard following the discovery

Artefacts making their way from Cardiff to Powys include the colours flown by the Royal Welch at The Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
An American flag captured by the Royal Welch during the War of 1812, against the United States, will also be stored in Brecon.
A spokesman for the Royal Welch Museum, Brigadier Robert Aitken said: "Although only formed in 2006, the history of the Royal Welsh extends back well over 300 years.
"For much of that time, its forbears have had strong associations with the capital city of Wales, and so of course the closure of our museum in the Barbican Tower in Cardiff Castle is a sad moment.
