I started to have a look at my new project, mk2 imported from oz (good shell)

I was very suprised to see so many differences in the shell to a uk car, including reinforced doors eg SIPS.
strengthening plates where doors bolt on
A plate under tank weird shape?
seat mountings
rear belts
etc

Im sure theres a lot more but i was still suprised, doors weigh a ton.

Escorts built here in Oz were required to have door intrusion bars fitted after 1976,as per our design rules.

was this due to the kangroo's

Yep car was registered late 76, i wont be going to car for a week or so but will get pics up when i can.

Was supposed to aid body strength in a side impact.
Most kangaroos you hit,you do so front on

Quite a few differences

• Fuel filler in back panel on some
• Fuel tank under boot floor
• Metal x brace behind rear seat (UK has cardboard )
• KPH clocks
• Differnet sun visors and mount
• Different rear view mirror
• Stone guard under floor in pedal area
• Stone guards under arch protecting A post area
• Guard behind headlamp
• Front chassis legs have additional skin/strength
• Emmisions equipment
• Stronger seat mounts
• Rear trims are fitted different
• Two piece carpet sets
• Additional soundproofing mats
• Extra warning stickers around shell
