A copy of my post on the SOSE forum ( as my posts are now being deleted and I know a lot of the forum users also read here)
Heres where I am at with all this.
In my opinion the charity money raised must have far exceeded the £3500 announced. As it became clear the day was going to be a big one , we at East Ayrshire Car Club were aware that the gate money could be potentially huge for this event. (The agreement we have always had with SOSE is £1000 hire for the complex and SOSE get the gate money). It was agreed with Martin that a percentage of the gate money would also be added to the Mcrae Vision "pot" and it would appear to me that this has not been done for the following reasons.
1) The raffle was at over £1000 the last time I heard
2) The charity rally car runs took £1000 ( 50 tickets at £20)
3) The auction took £1650 or thereabouts
That makes £3650 without any gate money so doesnt add up. Now I have asked 3 times now what the actual gate money was and each time I have been told that they lost thousands with people coming over the fence and going round via the golf club etc. I do not dispute that some people did this but I cannot see that hundreds or thousands of people did this. It has been estimated that there were at least 3000 people in Kames that day at £5 a head. Lets say even half of them didnt pay , still a huge sum of money.
The problem I see is that , I really dont have a right to know the gate money as SOSE isnt actually a club ,its just a website. This is something that definately needs address if it is to continue. EACC have also made a decision not to hire the complex to private individuals for profit making excersise and only hire to bona-fida clubs.
I also dont believe that the Mcrae passenger rides were maximised. I suggested auctioning them off at the start but was over-ruled ,then I was bombed out on the day. Then they came round to my way of thinking and we took more in 15 minutes than the raffle took in 3 weeks. Jimmy agreed to do 8 passenger rides I believe , so why were 2 of them taken up with Martin and Dave 3D , how much did that raise for the Vision ??
I arranged for Malcom Wilsons car to be there ,I arranged for Colin Mcraes car to be there and arranged the transport for it and when Jimmy indicated he would like to attend ,I suggested that he could auction some rides with him. Then unfortunately Martin took over , as he does and hounded people until they were fed up of them pestering them until it got to a point that they had to turn off their phones !
So , as you will probably gather , I will no longer be involved with the SOSE day at Kames and I expect an announcement of a further donation to the Vision in the near future or I will be taking the matter further.
The opportunity has been given for over a week now to be clear on many of the above points but the time has come to let the "members" know the situation.
