Yes duratecs sound like they've got no real guts to them (like the other Jap crap Honda V-tec engines etc) but i suppose it's their stroke length that makes them sound all fizzy . Never mind though as i'm sure the duratec fad is on it's way out and people will start fitting proper 16v pintos again (especially as all the duratecs can't keep up) !!!!!!sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .

when i see a GP4 Escort going for 80,000 to 100,000, begin to wonder why hasnt my RS2 gone up in value too. Mine is a original Aussie 2 door RS and it may bring in A$6,000 if that.
The GP4 is the top Escort to get but 100k? it should be on the mantle piece not ratted around the stages..
By the way 100k in your money is about A$220,000 here....

Hang on - has anyone read the ad correctly. It says COST £100k to build, not £100k to buy, it actually asks for offers.
OK a lot more than a works replica Mk2, one of those has sold recently for around £45k, and suited to modern events only so it has to go up against Subaru and Mitsubishi 4 wheel drive cars.
Not my choice but I'll bet it is built to very high standard.Richard

Yes the £100,000 cost too build would include their £40+ an hour (£400+ a day) labour costs so the bits on the car will cost less than the labour . Don't forget that "time is money" and most people couldn't build a car of this quality at home so it's gonna be expensive . Just a decent bare GP4 shell is £7000+ on Ebay and they're usually D.I.Y. bodge ups and not professional motorsport prepared stuff from Gartrac , central blast , M-sport etc etc .sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .

2.4 Duratec keeps up with millingtons MMMMMM lets put them in a straight line with the right gearing and see what happens, dont doubt they go ok but no match for a millington.
I am putting together my own grp 4 escort and the parts alone come to over 80k then the build time etc, top spec cars are definately fetching big money
Even some historic cars are pulling 100k let alone a modern irish tarmac spec car with all the modern kitt on.
When my car finally gets finished i would sell it for 100k but no less.
expect to see figures rise too as better cars get built.
