  • Are these still available?

I was putting a new cambelt on the old girl after fitting a new cam and there was a little graunch as I was tightening the bolt that the tensioner spring acts against, I thought ahh, some dirt in the thread....but no the bloody thing snapped off in the head! After plenty of swearing I took stock and managed to get the broken part of the thread out of the head and after having a closer look it turns out it may have been a blessing in disguise, it looks to have been cracked for a while so it could have gone while it was running!
The question is can I get one from the local Ford dealer or is it a trip to the scrap yard for me? The other option could be that there is someone on here(local to North Staffs/Cheshire) who has one of these in their "I'll keep that, you never know when it might come in " box/tin (I looked and found loads of cam cover washers etc but I didn't have one of these), is it worth a pint??? I just thought of another option, I could try R.A.C.E but I've already been there twice today buying rear suspension parts so the Squires Bros might start thinking I fancy them if I call in again tomorrow

I think they are now a deleted item when I checked about 3 months ago

          That's bad news

The deletion must have been very recent, as you say.

If the dealer is savvy and searches Ford Europe, I've had successful orders for parts which have been deleted years ago. Brake caliper pistons were one example.

Just called Burns Garage in Congleton and they said it's still available, £4.85 + VAT and could get one for Tuesday/Wednesday. If I don't track one down today I'll get one ordered on Monday, then I'll probably find out the guy I spoke to just was wrong and they aren't available after waiting a couple of days for it to come in .

Update...just tried Bristol Street in Stoke and they say the Birmingham branch are showing one in stock and I previously got the price wrong, it's £4.15 + VAt so if I fail today I can get that one by Monday afternoon....unless someone on here beats me to it.

Got one from a huge box of old nuts and bolts at R.A.C.E. and best of all when I asked Mick "how much?" he said that I could have it for finding it, bargain. If anyone wants the one at Bristol Street, feel free, I'm sorted now...result.
