Lakes Tour & Cumbria RSOC Regional Show 2009
Many thanks to all of the participants of this year’s Lakes Tour. Without your support the Lakes Tour would be a non-starter. It just gets bigger and better each year. This year’s Tour and Show was a huge success despite the weather. On the days running up to the weekend we almost cancelled the RSOC Show on the Sunday due to a bad forecast. In true Cumbria sprit we battled on and delivered the weekend.
An amazing number of MK1 and MK2 Escorts, was this the largest ever gathering of pre-81 RS Escorts?? The Mexico display was situated in front of the hotel and we counted over 50 Mexico ’s – none were lagging behind !!! J Next year it’s the turn of the RS2000 and we want to see at least 200 please.
£1000 was raised for the Great North Air Ambulance. A helicopter fly-by was arranged by them which was a very nice surprise!
Some fantastic cars were on display including a brand spanking new Focus RS. Thanks to the Manchester RSOC Local Group for bringing it along to our show.
A special car which captured our attention was a sublime, brand new, GRP4 MK2 RS Escort which won a modified concours class. This car is something else and the attention to details is off the chart! Thanks for bringing it to the show Gerard and shattering the dreams of many full grown men!
Concours car of the day was won by a very smart Escort Cosworth which has been reincarnated for 2009 by Scott Emerson. Well done Scott! Too Shiney!
Another car worthy of a mention here was the 2008 RAC winning Malcolm Wilson Rally car parked next to the Hotel. Many thanks to Eddie Stobart for bringing it along.
Last but not least thank you to everyone who attended the weekend and we hope to see you back at Heaves Hotel in 2010.
