A good rule of thumb for forum/pub/car show etc rolling road talk is :

1= most rolling roads bullshit the power level to help get money from the customers wallet easier . If he's happy he will pay up easy .

2= you can't really get more than 90 bhp a litre from an 8V engine on pump fuel unless it has a great engine builder with top notch headwork and valve train mods etc etc (expensive) . Only a few top engine builders can achieve more than 90bhp a litre from an 8v motor . This again is dependant on what machine it's put on . So a "true" 85bhp a litre from an 8v engine is an excellent result and is what most people should really aim for .
                      1.6 litre = 136bhp
                      1.7 litre = 144bhp
                      2 litre = 170bhp
                      2.1 litre = 178bhp
                      2.2 litre = 187bhp
                      2.3 litre = 195bhp

3= It doesn't matter too much about rolling road numbers in the real world as the "peak" bhp reading means foooook all . The area under the graph from 5000rpm to the engines max rpm matters the most so a car with a big fat powerband but with less "peak" power will **** all over one that has more "peak" bhp but for less of the time .
Hope that makes sense as we all love the BHP + torque debates

                        2 litre = 170bhp
Is that at the 'flywheel' or 'backwheels'

Flywheel mate . This would be a good result for a 2 litre pinto on a new "accurate" chassis dyno (dyno-dynamics etc) . Obviously power readings are always different on different machines so 170bhp at one place is 199bhp somewhere else so you'll never know , lol !!!!!!!
