  • locking fuel cap

    i had better get a locking fuel cap before i go on the classic ford belgium tour, i dont want no bugger nicking the cap or my fuel......has anybody bought one recently, are they available new? or is this another one for darren moss?

                      you now need a locking cap for an mot as it will not pass without it

                      but most of the mot stations don't even look
                      but if they do then if will fail without a locking cap on.....

                              I think the "Locking" description of a cap required for an MOT doesn't refer to it having a key, it refers to it being positively fixed into place and sealed so that fuel cannot escape.

                              In other words a temporary fuel cap that just pushes into the filler neck is a failure, but a bayonet fitting cap (as per a standard Mk2 cap) is fine.

                              I remember this from my days doing MOT's (a few years ago now mind you)

                              The cap on the eBay link shown above is no good for a saloon, it's for the van and Estate - I bought one for my Van and it's different to the saloon type.
