i work in a mot station and get test for 20 quid for my own jobs i do and free for for my own vehicles, which is really good, ive sen places offer discounted mots before and it all ends in tears. weve lost numerous amounts of customers to large dealerships offering 25 pound mots, but they soon come back. the logic in it isnt really right when you need to allow 1 man almost an hour from start to finish and the average garage charges around 30/hour anyway. what usually happens in all the cases weve seen is that you get your mot for 25, then get charged 10 for headlamp alignment and 10 for cleaning out a washerjet so they get there money in the end.
my auntie took her car to the local ford dealership for mot and was told that she needed new front disc plates and pads before it would pass and it was around 190 to supply and fit, she left it an brought it to us and when we looked there was nothing whatsoever wrong with them, just seems sometimes a 50 pound mot isnt that dear for a straight pass! just one to be weary of
