  • Another Great Day.....

I have been a Police Officer for 30 years....I retired on March 6th....I have gone back on a contract basis but essentially I HAVE retired........

I had the opportunity to take my Mum to meet the Chief Constable today.....I have had alot of dealings with him over his seven years in office......

For instance I was the Family Liasion Officer for two of the families whose children were shot in the New Years shooting in Birmingham in 2002....worked very close with The Chief....

For the past 10 years I have only dealt with serious crime.

I took Mum (Aged 79) to meet him and got presented with my Exemplary Certificate and Plaque....He was so nice and such a good host....Mum loved it and I was so pleased to be able to take at least one of my parents...just wish Dad could have been there....

I really enjoyed it too (for Mums sake I guess)

For those of you who know me but never knew what I do for a living...now you know...

I often take it as a real compliment that I have known people in these circles for years and they have never known what I do to pay the mortgage.....some people will just hate me for what I do because of bad experiences with the Police and I understand that....

I just wanted to say...I had another great day...

Good on ya mate and all the best in your retirement

I know we all have a moan about the police from time to time , but what sort of place would it be without them.

Well done it is nice that they took the time with your mum
and as for being a copper here in OZ we all carry guns and as you know if you do then
at some stage some peanut will take a shot we would be buggered with out our finest a thank less job but when some ones RS goes missing they don't ring the council the hard jobs are given to the Police 30 years is a long time well done

Russ, most of us know there is good and bad in all walks of life not just the police .

Nice reward for a long career ,not many here been in the same job for that length of time ,nice one ,enjoy the retirment.

Its the wopping pension we pay for that upsets most

Russ, the majority of police are fine, just doing their job and earning a living like everyone else. We have'nt all been angels on the road in the past!

It's good you had an enjoyable day along with your mum, which makes a nice finish to your career. Now enjoy your retirement, and the best of luck to you.

                    Cheers,

                    Tim.
