  • Checks!

I am hoping to buy a mk2 1600 sport very soon so need a little advice on what to check for when i go to view a car. Also could anyone tell me how to check if its a genuine 1600 sport and not something else (eg what chassis number begins with etc). It would also be much appreciated if anyone good give me a price guide for them in different conditions. What sort of price are they selling for in England, Scotland and Wales? Any help greatly appreciated.

Read through a lot of the "buying" posts on here.

Whilst the Sport is not an RS all the shell details and info where to look for rust etc are still relevant

First 4 letters of the chassis should read "BBAT" if my memory serves me correct. Had one of these as my first car when I was 17. Ragged the thing to death litterally but enjoyed every minute of it. Look for the usual rust spots and make sure that the interior is in decent nick as these are as hard to find (Maybe harder) than an RS interior. Secondly, as mentioned, get it checked over by someone from tye Sporting Escort club. All very helpfull and enthusiastic people so I'm told. Cheers, Kev.
