I know it's not RS related but I would like peoples opinions. I have very recently put some German style number plates on my Golf which IMO look superb. Had a visit at work yesterday from a really Anal Traffic Coppper who read the riot act to me for having them on the car. (Was thinking of getting a set for the Mex seeing as it was built in Germany and no-one else seems to have done this to a MK2 RS). Previous to this I have had a set of plates which instead of showing the "GB" sticker on the side had "VW" embossed instead. These caused no problems in the year and a half I used them. The main moan from Mr Anal was that the "D" prefix instead of the "GB" The term " Catch some REAL criminals instead of wasting my and the Police's time on pettyness"

He He! Yet another Engländer who likes German things as well as members of the Royal Family!
PS: You're on a loser concerning having a "D" on the number plate - I'm afraid about 16 national laws and one European law are piling up against you! Why not just stick a miniature "GB" over the "D" and keep the German style letters and numbers?
PPS: Don't EVER moan about police not recovering stolen cars, 'cos yours would be discounted as being a German car if it came to the push! PMSL!
BTW: I wouldn't recommend driving around on the continent like that otherwise you might find yourself without the car for a while! Because of the ability to drive across borders in Schengen area without any customs or police controls, that little country designation really has a meaning!

OI Mr Brian........................... he he. Your OFE plates are illegal as well.
Right then, Was pulled again today by a different cop for a different reason. Covered a car in soot when I overtook him........ Thought he had stopped me for the plates. he said that he wasn't concerned by them although he said they were naughty. Told me that the other cop must have an issue with plates and was an "Anal Pillock" Hmmmmmmmmmmm, What to do. I know that I can't use these plates abroad so when that time comes will revert to the "GB" plates.

Because young sir, You shouldn't have the "RS" logo on the edge where the "GB" should be. Also it's in a non-standard Font and you're not allowed to have "Ford 1980 RS2000 on the bottom. Was told all this by "Mr Jobsworth" when I got done on Friday as my previous plates had the "VW" logo where your "RS" one is. Mine also said "GTiTDiPD150" where your 190 RS2000 is. NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO In his opinion. CRAP I say. Wear them with pride Brian.

IMHO Frosticles, you say that you definitely and knowingly want to have plates which are illegal on your car. That's up to you, of course. It's not the sort of thing that's going to affect anyone else's insurance premium for example!
But why the GRIPE when you get hauled over?
Either do the illegal bit and stand to it like a man, or if you don't like the pull - change the plates!!
LOL!
