  • first seen rs ?

when did you first see one or the first one you remember ?

I would have been about 9 when i first seen a salmon pink rs2 on the next street to us with black covers on the lights and a roofrack for skis

about 13 when i seen a white x pack on going to manchester with my dad, walking along the road and it looked the muts nuts.

my mates cousin had a 16 sport in yellow and i always liked it

probably seen others on tv etc but those are the ones that stick in mind.this has probably been done before

I was about 12yo and my best mates older brother had a White 1600 Sport which we used to sit in when he wasn't around

Then one day a year or so later the white car was gone and sitting in the drive was this red MK2 Escort with a wierd looking front end

He didn't have it long and remember one day seeing it in the drive with a flat front (he hit a wall when he lost control)

Didn't see my first X-Pack or RS1800 until I started going to RSOC Show's in the late 80's
        Cheers

must have been about 8-9, brothers mates, one Imaculate Mk1 RS2000 in black with it's arse on the floor comming round out street sidways

          A Yellow Mk2 RS2000 with a turbo from a R5

          and a white 16sport with a 1760 on 45's

          then my brother swaped a 2000E Mk3 Corting for a scruffy blue Mk1 RS2000

and he was & is a crap driver.... a few scrapes later the police nicked him & it and it got smashed up in the police compound......

When I first started work in '72, every morning I saw a parked Electric/Monza blue Mexico with bubble arches and white stripes from the top deck of the bus. Really looked the business and they still do today. Anyone got a pic. of one for old times sake?

the lad next door owned several lovely rs2000's and mex''s during the 80's which he brought in from germany, ex squaddie.
he then built a left hand drive mk1 mex which planted the seed, so to speak.

he later bought bwl off me, before selling it to martin c.

i'd just started bike racing back in the early 80's, i was about 13 at the time, the fella that used to take me and my mate to the race events turned up in a nordic blue rs2 which he had from new, it looked awsome, an rs2000 in nordic blue with four race bikes on the roof rack, tour de france style, i managed to buy the car about 12 years later but did not realise it was the same one until my mate came over after hearing i'd bought a nordic blue rs, he then produced the original bill of sale for me and some other service history, sadly i sold the car 2 years later, doh, i've got some pics somewhere, i'll get them scanned and posted up

dont remember really what age I was, it must have been the mid 80's when my dad used to bring me to the rallies....there was plenty of fords around the estate but very very few RS escorts....there was an absolute 3 dr cossie down the end of the road though back in the late 80's...one of only handful in the country back then......but my dad was always a ford man ...so its in the blood

                        First RS

I'd be about 14 sat in the back of my Dads car at some traffic lights in Preston. Ironically right next to where Bradshaws motor house used to be. (RS dealer)

I looked to my right and sat there was the most amazing looking orange MK2 RS2000.

There also used to be a W reg lowered white Custom that used to go through Preston town centre.

Looking around Fast Lane motors, Brooklands etc for those who know Chorley. God they were the days.

                        CheeRS,

                        Joe.
