this is where ford lost its direction with the rs brand and what it was all about, it will always be known as a boy racers car, it was all about loud music and baseball caps back then, not rallyesport, it needed a door at the rear to get the big woofers and tweeters into it, future classic???? NO!!!

if this does not get in the mag consider my subscription cancelled !!!!!!

    do a spellcheck first though

some of us thought the mk2 escort rs2000 was a bit of a new fangled idea when they first came out all those years ago , there again some of us still do .
it is only time before the series 2 becomes a classic in certain eyes.

They prob eventually will become a classic because of the rs attachment. Had a few of them in my days also a series 1 rs turbo which i prefer. I would think that the rs 1.6i will become the most sought after. Had one of the 1st xr3's, non injection models with a set of 40's on it, great fun to drive.

sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

When I started to look around for an RS2000 back in the early 90's, I found it really diffiicult to find a decent one. The majority of these cars where in the pits of their lives being passed around from one boy racer to the next. Many of them keeping them for a matter of a few months or weeks even, and each one thrashing them a bit more into the ground in the process.

I think the front wheel drive Escorts have been through this and soon they will start to gain interest and be given a bit of love and attention off the enthusiasts purely because they are getting on in age. These are the cars that will take many back to their younger days when these cars where the car of their day.

                            Tim.
