funny you say that, my cus is a drystone dyker on arun and hes flatout!
i work, and am heavilly involved, in the Civil engineering industry from a material purchase / supply route and whilst things are getting tight with infrastructure, the 'lightside' of the industry (i.e. commercial and domestic building) is in serious decline. I could show the various construction details / Figures / Graphs for the last few months but i think we all know how bad it is anyway.
some of the 'national' builders merchants and manufacturers are laying staff off / closing depots at an alarming rate. The building industry is ALWAYS the first (and usually hardest) hit, however it is also usually the first to show signs of recovery.
if you are a small building company, things should be ok as there is enough small work still about, however if its majoe projects / domestic housebuilding then it will be tough for some months yet
touch wood have been ok too not as busy as have been got work till end of feb notice lot of people want to build extensions now instead of moving but banks need to give out morgages
