hi
Financial advisors are worthwhile. It depends what advice you are after and most advisors will do a good job. Again most of them are independent mortgage advisors and should seek to give you the right mortgage etc for your circumstances. As long as your associated insurance policies are with a known branded insurer, the difference in premiums is negligible.
a good advisor can save you 100's.
I know I'm one for the last 19 years.

we have used advisors before, and as said be sure they are independant to secure the best deals, on the two occasions we used them they saved us a fair bit of money, BUT a lot of the cheapest ones werent high street lenders, and we wanted to move house and could only deal with people over the phone, which was a pain. so from then on we vowed to only use high street lenders where we could go in if we wished, and the last time our deal ran out, we got a better one in a high street lender than the mortgage advisor did - which really pi$$ed him off cos he didnt get any comission - ah well
you also need to be aware that if your mortgage is with a high street lender, but arranged through an advisor, you will have to go through that advisor in future for any info on your mortgage, and wont be able to walk in a branch, again something we found out when we wanted to move.
they also get good rates on life cover and buildings & contents cover by shopping around. high street lenders arent cheap for that, but rely on people coming in and doing the whole shooting match for convienience even if it does cost a few more quid.
they should also show you how much comission they will be getting for arranging you mortgage and insurances, and pick the best for you, not the one that pays them the most comission
good luck son

independant
Independant
Just because they are independant, doesn't mean you get the best deal,
they might only offer you the products from the companies that they get the most commision for !
The only true way to get good advice, is to pay them for there time and take the policy they advise out direct with the company who is offering the policy.
He then has nothing to gain by which policy you take out as you have paid him for his time finding them for you rather than him getting commision from the company.
Lets face it when it comes to stocks and shares and pension you are gambling that when you need the money the stock market is high.
My advise by more mk2 escorts if you got spare cash !Last edited by POO505R; 12-01-2009, 19:36.

Financial advisers
Never used one ! I know people who have when they had only 90K to invest.Be alert and look about for the best deals, when even financial advisers are going belly up ,then is their advice to be believed.
I honestly am very wary of some of them and think they are chasing commision in lots of cases
