The Real Italian Job: James Martin's Mille Miglia, last sunday on bbc2 after top gear
In my opinion, he came across as a person who had no understanding or love of old cars. Surely anyone who had had an engine built for their "million pound car" would have run it in before attempting a three day regularity rally?
Its also a shame, imo, that people who have cars from the forties and fifties insist on spraying them with modern paints. The cars end up
looking like kit cars rather than period competition vehicles. The finish on the paint is far to glossy.
But then again, as he was aiming to sell the car straight afterwards and make a profit, what should I expect.
Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now.
