RUD IT (AUDIT ) was a regular concourse winner back in the early 1990's and was a very well known car (still is)

I was events co ordinator and National day event organiser for the Ford RSOC at the end of the 1980's and early 1990's and well remember receiving a call from Ogilvy and Mather around May 1991 asking if i could meet to discuss a forthcoming Advert that was to be filmed in Los Angeles, Bakersfield, and Philladelphia on the 'new' RS2000 mk 5.

At the meeting, i was asked my opinion if the proposed advert was "about right" and could i recommend a car for the advert, it had to be the very best example, and preferably Black (Red was considered but Black would 'Age' better with Artificial dust)!!!!!

I had absolutely no hesitation in recommending Hemant's RS (most people thought it was his brother Dillips car) for the advert, and then contacted hemant to ask if he would be prepared to loan RUD IT.

now the good news, FoMoCo offered myself and Hemant to go to the states for a few days to be on hand for the filming, now the bad news, I did not have a passport therefore could not make it, worse still, Ford also wanted to take me onto Dearborn (their Global headquarters in the US) to discuss the RSOC and some new fangled 4wd Escort with a cosworth engine and the potential european market and what the RSOC could do to assist in its promotion. (that can be told another day),
however this was not to be. Hemant, though, did go and took the enclosed photograph of the car covered in theatrical dust, which is much lighter / Cleaner than real dust (work that one out) and would 'blow' off easier.

the film was 'in the can' 6th April 1992

I have an original Video copy from Ogilvy and Mather / FoMoCo, and Hemant also kindly sent myself a copy - you will note in the pic below that the RS appeared with some additional digits in the number plate RUD IIIT.

a fascinating story, i was very sad that i could not make it over though to see the filming

as an aside, Ford used Five sets of wheels on the new RS2000 mk5 during the filming of the advert, the steps at Carnegie Hall killed the alloys every time the thing went near them.
