    i think that looks dead nifty martin, std dash illumination is rubbish, 100% better imo, not at all cheesy.

      had the same problem, I bought a set of blue ones, seemed logical as the bulb covers/filters are blue looking, the result was blue backlighting

      Then I tried white ones, but as you say, these were too white, so ended up buying green, and hey presto the original green backlighting was restored.

      I haven't tried them with the "filters" removed but the LEDs are not much brighter than the STD bulbs as it is at the mo.

        Yeh it is strange aint it ?
        I ended up with green 5W 501 (normal filament type bulb) now it matches the heater and switch controls (RS2000 dash in me cortina)

          using 5 W conventional bulbs will eventually melt the dash or filters, you're supposed to use 3 W bulbs

            Took the filters off, tis why i used coloured bulbs
            The bulb holders are a bit brown so i think i'll be going LED as well, i spose less drain on the alt will give better millage at night

              I got some green leds for mine about a year ago, makes a big difference, got 1 in the clock too, middle of the clocks still a bit dark, but the rest miles better
