  • Which is worth more

    Which is worth more a mk2 that is totally original 4 speed,brakes everything except a 2.1 engine
    or one that has been modified eg upgraded brakes,5 speed gearbox, radiators etc..
    what are your opinions..I was argueing with someone about this point...

    it depends on what sort of scene your into rally show etc , i would always think a real nice standard car would be more sought after than some ponced up half baked rally car

      Depends on condition mate . A top modified car is worth more than a stock old pooper normally

        would say it all depends on the condition of the shell ect, trim and history, modified bits can be chucked on anything.

          The thing is,i had someone looking at my own..She is absolutely mint,there was slight rust on one arch and it is away getting fixed.,door cards everything perfect..It is completely original except from the 2.1....
          I thought the closer to its orginality the more it would be worth??????
          Maybe i am wrong...Maybe it is the other way around????

            If 2x cars are in the same condition but one has a £5000 race engine and the other has a £150 standard pinto with a plastic air box then i'll take the modded one please !!!!!!!

              Modifications are a personal choice, but a solid original car with its original engine and an unmolested interior (ie. no speaker holes etc.) would in my opinion be worth more than a modified car so long as the original car has a history to back it up

              Uprated brakes, 5 speed gearbox, uprated suspension, mild cams, Bigger Carbs etc. are mods that a vast majority of MK2 RS's have

                  But the same condition car (standard mint interior etc etc) but with a dog bolloxs 16v pinto (warrior , atmo cossie , millington diamond etc) and proper brakes and suspension is worth more , is better to drive , sounds better , and is easier to sell . Forget standard pooper RS with mirrors under them , it's all about the tasty modded ones around here

                      i agree with gaz modded ones are worth more

                      everyone mod there car, then the standard ones will be worth more in years to come, cos there wont be any pooper ones

                        lol , you can turn them back into slow poopers afterwards . Just sell off all your good bits and then refit the £150 pinto , plastic air fliter , wobbly 2 foot from the floor springs and your away !!!!!!!

                              personally i would rather buy very a good RS2000 in original condition than a ballsedout RS with big engine and carbs but not everyone is of that opinion
