  • Paypal querie

I have paid for an item through paypal. However, the guy is having difficulty accessing it. He says he has not accepted the payment yet, due to not being able to get into paypal.

He has asked me to retract the payment and send a cheque instead. I have no problem with doing this, I just don't know how I get the payment already made back. I tried the 'request payment' method, but nothing. I said to him I thought he would have to acknowledge it, but he says others have done it last week successfully.

    Any ideas please?

Suprised if he has to accept it as normally it goes straight onto his account.

If he contacts Paypal they will assist him in accessing his account. Beware if he is asking for a cheque when you have already paid by Paypal and are coverd by them
      Cheers

        Aled,

from the online Help Center of PayPal: (you can only cancel unclaimed payments)

        1. Log in to your account at https://www.paypal.com/.
        2. Click the My Account tab.
        3. Click the History subtab.
        4. Click Cancel in the Action column of the transaction in question.
        5. Click Cancel Payment.

          Thanks Leon,

I tried that, it does not give me that option. Checked my account and the money has already cleared. I guess it can't be done after a certain time. Shame though.... I could dip into everyones account and take some money

I have never sold on Ebay Leon....just bought. Does the money not lie dormant in his paypal account or does it go straight through to his bank account? Does he have to 'accept' for my money to clear?

when you press send payment the money then leaves your paypal account or your credit card registered on paypal almost right away, then it goes into his paypal account, so he's been paid, when he wants that money he either does a paypal to his bank transfer which takes around 7 days or just pays for another item or person with it, if it says its paid then its paid, have you deffo paid the right person?????

you don't normally have to accept a payment, well i've not had to anyway, it goes right into your paypal account

aled send me £200 mate see if it works , lol

Yes Gra, I have paid the right chap. Money has gone from my account. What he is saying is 'cos he cannot access his account he can't get at the money.

I remember having a faff setting mine up.... look for a penny in your account, do this, do that etc....

He seems genuine....but clearly I don't want to pay twice lol....

if paypal did not let the payment through you would know about it, if he is having problems accessing his own account that is something between him and paypal i'd say, nowt to do with you, so the problem is not him recieving the payment but him not being able to access his account, tell him to ring their helpline or mail them, he would also have had an e-mail from paypay saying you have funds, confirming your payment without using actually having to access his account

he may also be in the red in his paypal account due to a refund situation, so then paypal won't let him have the money out
