East Devon RSOC's usual pub for their monthly meet was water logged after the recent storms so they had the meet at ours instead Must say they were a really friendly bunch and had a right laugh, they want to move here permanantly but we are within the Devon branch's area by 0.6 of a mile! Apparently when they approached Devon and asked if they minded them using a venue within their area (by 0.6 of a mile) they said yes they did mind!!
Anyway as said before a great bunch with a couple of mk1/2 owners, not sure if any of them come on here but I did mention it to some of them....It nearly inspired me to rejoin the RSOC!

Sorry its taken me a while to reply. The question i really asked was why not join the RSOC, as you said in your reply your happy with this "site"
and i agree with you this "site" is good.

However as the Chairman of RSOC i really want to know the reasons for people like yourself not to wanting to be members of the RSOC anymore. There are no hidden agendas in my question i just want to understand why & what we as a club need to do to get people like yourself back.

This question goes out to everyone on this site what do we have to do to improve the RSOC and tempt back or sign up new members.

            Kev

I'm a member of the RSOC and my renewal has just come through the postbox this week. I will be re-joining for 3 years for a number of reasons.
            • RSOC Magazine - personally I enjoy the read and feel that it is good value for money
            • Valuation - My cars can both be valued by the club so if the worst should happen then I will hopefully have a better chance of getting the proper value from my insurance company
            • Support - By this I mean that if we do not support the RS marque via the RSOC or have a "someone else can do it" attitude then the club will dwindle and we will have an even harder time in the future keeping these classic cars on the road
            • Shows - Last year I attended 9 shows (not all RSOC events) but without these shows organised by like minded enthusiasts where would we go to find parts, view other peoples cars and most importantly get out of the house on a Summer weekend to drive these cars and have a good laugh with fellow owners
On a negative I do feel that the club is geared towards the more modern cars and the RSOC website forum does not cater for the Old Skool Escorts.

Reasons for this are that there are NO Group Buys for Old Skool yet there are plenty for the Focus and Cosworth owners!! And the Ongoing Discounts for RSOC Members is again geared towards the modern cars yet it is the old cars that are more in need of support in my opinion.

I recently posted up pages from the Capri Club Catalogue (link below) and this shows what the RSOC should be striving towards in terms of helping all members.

They seem to have organised remanufacturing of obsolete parts and are actively buying up old cars to break for spares or to be re-built to sell on.
I know this can't happen overnight, but surely as one of the biggest car clubs we should have been planning this years ago once we knew that Ford had no intentions of keeping parts in production.

On this site we already have some dedicated members who have produced items that are no longer available and I feel that the RSOC should be supporting them where ever possible.

If you think the above is boll**ks then I'm sorry for wasting your time
