  • Value for money?

Must say that with the higher prices of the Mk1 and 2 escorts at the moment, there are a few FWD boxes representing good value at the moment.

This RSi is available at around £3k and looks OK, used to have one of these and loved it, and theres a superb S1 RST, nut and bolt restoration to as new, available for £7k on passionford.

All adds up to good value. But could you defect to the awfulness of FWD?

we have an xr3 too, i think the fwd escorts will catch up with rwd in the next 5-10 yrs, its as the people of that car era get to the age where money isnt such a struggle and pushes the prices silly, xr's s1 rst's ect will go silly, buy now for a good investment i think!

                    I have a white 1992 mk5 RS2000 bulge bonnet model for 10 years now.
I bought it with 10,495 miles on it as a 6 year old car.
It was my every day car for 5 years. I use it as my every day car now for 6 months each year(summer).
Once only it failed to start for me, 83,500 miles on it now.
Replaced front wish bones, front discs, bushings, engine and gearbox mounts, and refurbed alloys in 10 years, not bad it think.
A good quick reliable car that handles realy well.
I think ill keep it for another 10 years.
Maybe a classis of the future ???

Yep prices of mk3 RS escorts have shot up in the last couple of years, because they are the next best thing to the mk1/mk2 escorts

S1 rs turbos are worth abit more than RS1600i's,but 16i's are more rare.

Prices of parts are just as stupid as mk1/mk2 parts are eg...brand new header tanks go for £400-£500,parcel shelf £250-£300 ect

My advice is you can still pick good one's up cheap, but there is not many original RS1600I/S1 Turbo's about now,and if one comes up it is worth big bucks

The Mk3's will become more valuable with their scarcity increasing. Price rising probably not now as a recession has started. Not to my taste as the Mk1 & 2 are more my era, but they are nice to see as they all suffered from corrossion as per all other Fords.

I'm told the Turbo has headed to a member from this site, who is aquiring a nice little collection of RSs.
