is the RS scene as big in europe ie germany,holland etc as it is here cause everytime i go on the german ebay they never really much in the way of mk1 or mk2 RS's or parts not like here also I wonder what our american counterparts do restos on ford wise mustangs or what any ideas

Hi, there is an RS scene over here but it is not as big as in the UK. Ford RS cars never sold in high numbers (we never had the Escort RS1800 for example). We do not use ebay alot because you have to pay to sell stuff and there are lots of websites/forums where you can sell parts/cars for free.
Several German ebayers sell their parts on ebay.uk.
Most Ford-fans visit the European Ford Event every year:

the Market for vintage Mustangs and Mustang restoration parts over here is huge and in abundance. Very hard to find Escorts though there are some Capri,s and Cortinas. We thought we had a handle on a couple of Mk2 Escorts in Arizona but that seems to have evaporated. I do have a handle on a couple of 2dr. Cortinas at the moment I will do a posting if I buy any

Although they were into the first "small" cars by the time I was there. The Kadet C was going under the name Buick Opel, the Mazda 323 as the GLC, the ludicrously-named Renault Le Car (although calling the VW Golf the Rabbit came almost as close...).
My car had Safari-winning pedigree as the Colt Lancer but with big Chrysler auto tranny and air it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding as the Dodge Colt...Attached Files

My neigbour back in UK, co-incidently a US Navy Commander on an exchange posting at MoD, had a Mercury Capri. In fact the UK dipping headlights he had to fit to it and took off and gave me when he went back are now in 167awo's parts store.
He kept me going during the building of PHF with American beer. The sound of the Capri arriving home from yet another run to the Greenham Common PX was the signal for me to open the garage door and hold my hand out for a can...
When I was in the US, Mercury Capri had been adopted for the upmarket version of the Mustang (the one that included the disastrous turbo Pinto option).

The disastrous pinto turbo, I owned an 89 Merkur XR4TI , you would think that this would be near Sierra Cosworth territory but it was a nightmare, kept cracking heads and didn,t deliver the kind of acceleration you would expect. My friend Greg Lund and I converted 2 of these to Cosworth 4 wheel drive Rally cars for the Pro Rally series in 95-96 with the help of Boreham and Graham Goode racing

There was a Mercury Capri RS too and it didn't even have reclining seats!
Horrible reminder also that the Mustang version with the Turbo was called the Mustang Cobra...What a travesty.
Incidently, in 79, a new fully loaded black TransAm at my local Pontiac dealer with absolutely everything including hood Firebird graphics had a US$ sticker price that converted to quite a lot less £ than the UK price of an RS2000 Custom.
