  • Live coverage of the McRae Stages on wrc.com

On Saturday 27 September World Rally Radio will be broadcasting live from The Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally in Perth, Scotland.

The special one day rally is a tribute to 1995 World Rally Champion Colin McRae and has attracted a world class entry list including previous champions Bjorn Waldegard, Ari Vatanen, Stig Blomqvist and Hannu Mikkola. British rally legends Russell Brookes, Andrew Cowan as well as Colin’s brother Alister McRae are also competing.

“We are really excited about this year’s special tribute version of the Colin McRae Forest Stages and are extremely grateful to the international drivers who have kindly agreed to compete out of their respect for Colin,” said Colin’s father Jimmy, who is also taking part in the event.

“We are expecting record levels of spectators and the fact that World Rally Radio is broadcasting from the event will mean that those in Colin’s worldwide fan-base who are unable to make the trip to Scotland will be able to feel a part of the proceedings’

The wrc.com broadcast will begin at 0945hrs CET on Saturday and will be hosted by World Rally Radio’s Greg Strange. Stage end reports and driver interviews will be handled by the inimitable Colin Clark and rallying expert George Donaldson, who joins the team for this special show.

“Colin McRae was a legend to Scotland, to Britain, and to motorsport,” said Strange. “No one who witnessed Colin on a charge will ever forget the excitement he brought to the stages. I think it’s wonderful that so many former stars of the sport have chosen to compete on the McRae Stages, and World Rally Radio is honoured to be there with them. We won’t have the sophisticated timing systems of a regular WRC rally, but we will have the spirit of the occasion to carry us through.”
