I was walking barefoot at home early this morning and tripped over a phone wire that had slightly come away from where it had been tacked to the wall.

Went to steady myself, but planted my foot on an upturned electrical plug. It hurt a bit, but apart from a quick curse I just ignored it and sat down for some cereal.

When I got up from the table I saw to my horror a huge pool of blood on the floor

Cleaned it up, but couldn't stop it bleeding. Pulled the wound apart slightly and it was huge, and very deep.

Off to A&E and 2 jabs, and 18 stitches later (some internal) I'm back, but on crutches.

Apparently the earth pin of the plug went straight and deep into the sole of my foot, between the ball of the foot and my heel.

Lovely, ****ing lovely.
