  • MK2 or Mortgage

I am now in a posistion that if i were to sell the MK2 (and use other money) I could pay off my mortgage and be debt free and the burden of the mortgage would be gone , although it is not a huge amoung i owe it would be nice knowing it was gone and going to work would mean money earnt would be going to me instead of paying a mortgage

What would most on here do ...keep the mk2 and enjoy it and keep paying the mortgage or get rid of the escort and be mortgage free?

Sorry no Andy C type poll for this

you musnt have much of a mortgage (i'm not saying you car isnt worth nowt!) it must be under 20k though, thats bugger all these days.

remortgage over a shorter term and pay more off each month if you can afford it.

keep the mk2 and pay off the debt over a shorter (but manageable) time.

If you still get lots of pleasure driving/owning the old girl then keep the escort IMO

On the other hand, I don't have a mortgage and never have, but would sell the lot if I needed to buy a house.
          Cheers Rob.

Sell MKII clear off mortgage = No debt & no toy

Then you take a loan out to buy a new toy MKII or otherwise

                      Loan is 9% p.a.

                      Mortgage is 6% p.a.

(actual rates only you will know !)

I say keep MKII as replacing it with a toy (thats if you want a toy of course !) will cost more in loan interest

Pay the cash in against your mortgage by all means and lower current repayments

Sell MKII only if you need to or fancy a change

Mortgage is nearing the end of its term now and its a small mortgage compared to some nowadays

I would also have to use other money to pay it all off , its just the thought of being mortgage free and working for money for myself that seems good.
