  • 30 years ago.......

today I took delivery of my RS2 from Bristol Street Motors, Cheltenham.
After all this time I still love it and love driving it. It's nowhere near the condition of most RS's on here but it's been used and used hard.
My dream is to do a full resto on it at some point but two front end crashes has taken it's toll along with the 40 or so road rallies it has done winning 2 outright. Apart from the repairs to the front end it is all still original.
I have had lots of good times with it and a few not so good but would never sell it. So here's to the next 30 years. God I've just worked out I'll be 87 by then so I might just be driving a bit slower by then, but not a lot I hope.

    Phil.

thats great that mate, is this the only genuine 1 owner, bought to order car on here?

take it the spec has totally changed from the early years with you using it for road rallies?

As requested a couple of pics taken this year. I have to say they to flatter the old girl somewhat.

                      Joe.
Unfortunatly the only early pic I have is the one in my siggy taken 1983 on the August Moon Rally in the Cotswolds near a village called Guiting Power. Really didn't expect it to survive the rallying days but it did I am glad to say.

                          Hi tim.
I am hoping to bring it to Burford in September so you can see what happens to them when they are abused and then not restored. Will there to be any where for me to park it safely so I know it will still be there when I go home?

                          Phil.

                              Hi Louie,

No, the spec was not too far from standard when I rallied the old girl. The only non standard items were group 1 bilstiens on the front with 145lb springs and group1 race shockers on the back. Full rollgage and sumpgaurd. brakes were standard m16's with DS11 pads and VG95 shoes on the back. Engine is still standard to this day, however there is a part built 2.1 with stage3 head and twin 45's sat in my garage just waiting to be fitted when money allows. In the last couple of years I have fitted a set of Willwood's and vents and a high ratio rack this year so even now the development contiues.

                              Phil.
