  • Having fun

Since selling the car, to be honest, i have been at a lost cause to know what to do with my spare time. I have done abit of fishing but i found myself last month returning to my second love. Karting. I raced 2-stroke for a number of years, ending up, racing semi-pro for a company i worked for at the time. After giving up 2 stroke, for a few years ive raced pro-karts, mainly endurance stuff and are currently racing in a six round, 100 minute a time series at Daytona in Milton Keynes with my best friend doing 50 minutes stints. We also raced a 150 minute endurance race on Sunday with 27 other teams, all in the motor trade from MK. Having recently scrubbed off quite abit of weight, i,m back to my competative self. We came second to a team of teenagers. However, i did put it on poll with a 1m.10.2, which if anyone has been to Daytona knows, thats on it. We slipped up on our re-fuelling, got stuck behind two other karts and this kept us out for three minutes. Over two laps in othert words. Ended up on the lead lap, with fastast lap of the night. BUT SECOND.

Richard, the company i worked for was owned by the then 125 British champion. Seq gearbox etc etc, mega quick. I remember a few years ago, the 250E super-karts were supporing the BGP at Silvertone along with F3 and a few other formulas. The Rotax engined super-karts were second quickest only to the F1 boys. Seriously quick, seriously expensive. Martin Hines who owns Zip was mega around Silverstone

Your not wrong Dave, like most of the guys on this board, they will always be in my blood. The family are Ford people, You cant do what i did whithout having some feeling for the brand. As you know, priorities have changed just now, and with the cost of RS,s as they are, a good one like Pauls, are simply out of my league. Jenny and I, along with children are off to Florida in four weeks, so i,m really forward to that. Havind said that, if a pre-custom fell into my lap, i,d struggle to say no. As for the karting, its brings out the competative streak in me, along with my running, keeps me on my toes.
