quote from event website 'Wilson went up a fire-break at high speed damaging the rear axle mountings too much to continue. Wilson was "gutted" not to finish although he went on to say about competing on the event "I feel like I’ve never been away".

            shell

David suttons shells are prep'd by gartrac. and engine by millingtons ( i built it) my claim to fame.

The car used by malcolm was a prepfab shell and was most definatly not at fault, malcolm put the car into a fire break and got off lightly to be fair.
there was a lot of damage to the car. it was a credit to the shells strength.

i was there too! malcolms car was damaged on the underside he went over a load of tree stumps, the rack was damaged he bent steering arms, ripped the four link boxes from the floor etc etc.
The car (owned by steve perez) is going back to prepfab to be repaired.
Im just glad that the event went ahead and i look forward to next year's.
The sound of so many nice bd powered escort's in the forest gave me goosebumps.

The watts linkage system was originally designed for tarmac use and is a very succesfull set up on tarmac, and has also proved so in the forest until now ( but to be fair malcolm was driving the car hard).
The car is having the rear susp set up changed to use leaf springs etc.
When looking for a company to prepare my own mk2 shell i chose prepfab,
and would recomend them to anyone, the shell preperation, fabrication ,and welding is excellent, and to those who know about escort rally preperation there's only a handfull of company's capable of work like that.
Malcolm was very happy with the car and i was told he said it was a credit to prepfab.

Malcolm Wilson car is back at prepfab for repairs, after what happened to the car, l do'nt think it matters who built it, the same damage would have happened, and l agree prepfab do a great job
