That 1800 was owned by a bloke who I used to work with (Guy Hart) when I was a apprentice instrument craftsman and sent to work on shift, he was a shift mechanical craftsman at Tilbury Powerstation.

He had the option of buying a S1 RS Turbo or the 18, I think both were up for 5.5K. Anyway after owning it for a few days it was pi$$ing oil everywhere and started smoking. So he had to rebuild the engine, think he spent about 2K (his wife was not happy) on parts and rebuilt it on evenings and nights in the main workshop. After it was rebuilt one of the electrical craftsman who is best mates with 'Guy' was was lent the car to run in for a week, as they used to both travel to work (about 40miles down the A12 each day) . Guy brought the car to work on a night shift (first proper time of driving the car) parked in the car park @10:20. Most of the shift went out at 11.15 to see the car and it was gone, Guy thought everyone was messing around and hid the car (dunno if he thought they had hid it on the coal tip or something). Someone phoned the gatehouse to see if they had seen the car, as you have to drive past security. And yep they saw the car and raised the barrier as they thought Guy was taking someone for a joy ride (well they were half right). I think the car was never to be seen again.

Guy stuck with sports bikes after that....

I loved reading the tuning adds they make me laugh 150 BHP conversion for a S1 RST compare that to now that would not even make a stage 1 would it
