      come to live in Germany

You don't automatically get points for speeding, usual speeding fine for doing 60 kmh in a 50 limit is 15 Euro. the points only last 2 years, you have to collect 20 points before getting a ban and can choose (within reason) when you want to hand your license in.

A work colleague of mine did 130 through roadworks on the Autobahn (80 limt) he got 2 points 150 Euro fine and a month ban, he handed his license in when he went on holiday for a fortnight, so only lost his license for a fortnight in effect

If you or no one else in the household have not signed for the "notice of intended prosicution" you can ignore it and hope that the mandate of 14 days expires, the period they have to tell you from the date of when the offence occured to you acknowledging that they intend to prosecute(by accepting a recorded delivery or replying to a letter that wasn't sent by recorded delivery, which is a definate no no). If you have already accepted the letter by signing for it then your options are somewhat reduced, pm me with your e-mail adress and I'll send a booklet that might help but in all honesty if you've signed for it then they have got you.....there are other ways to get out of it but it will take some reading to find your best possible corse of action. Trust me, I got off from doing over twice the legal limit without a ban, I did get six points and a rather large fine into the bargain but I didn't get the worst possible punishment. I was told I HAD TO ATTEND COURT and that I should bring someone with me who could drive me home should the need arise....proper "arse eating my pants" twenty minutes in court that was.

        Push everything to the limit
if it breaks it wasn't strong enough
rebuild it and try again !

As said above if it came in normal post and not signed for rip it up and say nothing.
If you get another letter tell them it is the first one you have received and therefore outside the 14 day limit.
One of the guys at work got one and did the above it was not chased up
and some of you know where I work!

I wasn't aware of the limit for replying to the "notice of intention" before I got done so I automatically thought I was stuffed and accepted the letter by replying and setting the ball rolling so to speak, now I'm more informed I wouldn't take anything that comes "recorded delivery" without first asking to look at it through the glass down at the sorting office(our postman never gets to us before we go to work). Good luck.

Laws North and South are completely different
but thought id tell you about a specialist motoring lawyer who for £2.5K would save my license when i was caught over 100 mph on the motorway.
There are forums about this with expert help and opinions.

                      Good luck.

Just get a letter from your boss to say you'll lose your job if you lose your licence, take it to court, represent yourself (no solicitor), & setlle for a hefty fine instead. Works for most people, if it gets as far as the court.

After that is done & dusted get yourself a slower car for getting to work, buy yourself a van & trailer & take your fast car to a race track to have a play.

                          Fella's,
I know a bit about this stuff,

Anyway, the NIP only has to be posted out first class post. No mention of recorded delivery etc.

                          Ignore it at your peril.

Years ago I had 10 points and got summoned to court for another speeding offence. This was going to take me over the 12 point limit and therefore a ban.

I took my solicitor along with a letter from my employer stating that I would lose my job if i lost my license.

This worked and they put me on 13 points (until the 10 came off the following year) and I kept my license.

I was told that I could only do this once and if it happened again I would lose my license.

                            Hope this helps
                            Cheers
